Summer reading no. 7: Ben Yokoyama and the Cookie of DOOM by Matthew Swanson and Robi Behr. Initially, looking at the cover, I thought this was just going to be a bunch of silly nonsense, but this not-quite graphic novel had a lot of heart. Ben gets a fortune cookie that tells him to live each day like it’s his last. Soon he, his parents, and his neighbors start taking that advice literally. Hilarious hijinks ensue.
