Summer Reading no. 21 / SSYRA no. 14 (I to go!): The Curse on Spectacle Key by Chantel Acevedo. I enjoyed this one. A ghost story with some unique twists. I liked the Florida lighthouse setting and that the main character, Frank loves books (and libraries!)

Summer Reading no. 11 / SSYRA title no. 9 (six to go!) The Haunted Mustache by Joe McGee. Quick read - Early chapter book with a good mix of spooky and funny. Reminded me a little bit of a less wacky Tom Angleberger’s Fake Mustache.
Summer Reading no. 17: Shirley & Jamila Save their Summer by Gillian Goerz. This was a really fun graphic novel about a 10 year old Sherlockesque detective and her unlikely new best friend.
Julieta and the Diamond Enigma by Luciana Duarte Armen Dárez. I loved this one and couldn’t put it down! (Hopefully kids who aren’t super into art museums and haven’t been to Paris will still love it too!). The main character goes to Paris with her dad who works for a Boston museum that is loaning some materials from the Louvre. A diamond goes missing. Mystery and adventure ensue! The main character has a charm bracelet and collects a charm for each landmark she visits. My only (minor) complaint is that she skipped my personal favorite art museum in the world, the Musee D’Orsay. But then, maybe she’ll get to visit in a sequel.
Summer Reading no. 10: Mystery on Magnolia Circle by Kate Klise and illustrated by Celia Krampien. A younger reader version of Rear Window, minus the murder. (There’s a burglary and a missing dog.)
